What do I look for when buying used Cisco router?

I'm planning to buy a used router at an auction. How important is cable, software, power cord and ports (T1, Bridge, Ethernet etc..)? Can I recover or reset password with these used units.

Ken.. password reset is easily done.. getting the IOS you want is harder unless you have a service contract on the router.. get as much FLASH as you can find upfront. Not that it's too expensive.. but when the router costs 400 bucks and the flash is another 50-75.. it's annoying. The console cable is easily made or begged from some nice person in routers already When you deploy 400 routers, you tend to aquire a collection of them ;-) Power cords are a normal HP style plug. The ports depend on what you want. Ethernet is pretty good choice as is a dual serial port. ISDN is not required nor is token ring.

Quick point-

If you are buying a router for home DSL use, make sure your ISP and phone provider support that router model.

I had a bad experience with a 675 and QWEST service in Portland, OR. That is, to say- they don't support it!!!

(Don't know if this helps at all, but I just felt it needed to be said)
