I use Premiere 6.5 for Mac on an IMAC I just bought. Now I make a small movie, export that using File - Export Timeline - Movie (using QuickTime as FileType). I give it the name trial.mov and save it on an USB stick. Everything seems to be working fine. After some time I get a preview on my mac which can be played without problem on the MAC. But if I go with the USB-stick to my PC (with Windows XP) I find 2 files on the stick: ._trial.mov and trial.mov and if I want to open one of the 2 files I get the message that windows cannot find the file trial.mov.
Can someone please tell me what I do wrong? Or is it not possible at all what I try to do? All I want is to make a movie (using QuickTime) on my Mac and playing that Quicktime Movie on my pc.

Macs and PC have different file naming and file formats. You can't simply take it from one computer to another and expect no conflicts.

Best to "render" out to your computers HD (the trial.mov). Make sure that your USB stick is formatted for PC use (that means, stick it in your PC comptuer and erase it using the PC). Then bring it back to your computer and copy the trial.mov file ot that stick.

Hi WizyWyg,

Thanks for your reaction, but I'm confused about it. So what I did was this:
1. I rendered the movie with QuickTime File Exporter on the HD of the IMAC
2. I named the file trial.qt
3. I copied trial.qt from the HD of the IMAC to a USB stick (formatted for a PC) which I put in the IMAC
4. I took the USB stick out of the IMAC and put it in my PC.
5. I found 2 files on the stick in my PC: trial.qt and ._trial.qt when opening the first file I get an error message: "You may experience problems playing a video track in trial.qt because the required compressor could not be found."
6. When ignoring this error I can press the play-botton of the controller, the button moves to the right (as if the movie is playing) but there is no movie in the screen.

Do you know what's wrong?

1. correct
2. why file name .qt ? its supposed to a .mov right?

There inlies one problem. Quick time Movies are .mov to play on all "systems".

Thanks WizyWyg,

I saved it now as trial.mov but I get the same error. In fact if I try to open the file in Windows Explorer I get even a second error message: "cannot find the fiel trial.mov". Which is a kind of weird because that's the file I double click on to open it.

Here's a nother way, just to see if its just a problem with your USB stick.

do you have a Website or webspace to upload the file to? Then download it to your PC? Or can you burn it CD-Rom (using the PC settings).

Trying to eliminate the possibilities.
