Just a quick question for you. I need to get a new router and I need some advice. I need something that has 2 uplinks for our 2 ADSL lines (possible expansion for a 3rd!), serial/USB port for our backup ISDN line, port opening/closing, stable, secure, DHCP etc. All the standard really. I would consider other makes but Cisco seems to have it nailed when it comes to routers/switches etc, but if you have any other suggestions then that would be good.

What sort of prices would be looking at as well. I am looking to spend up to £1000 so your help is greatly apprecited.

cisco 1760 will support upto 2 adsl slots along with ports for voip. it has all the standard features of dhcp/security/etc offered with IOS. Powerful routers as well.

Prices range from 1200 + depending on the modules you pickup for it.

next up is the cisco 2600 series routers. they are more powerful and offer more features than the 1700 series. more slots/etc. look at the 2650s. the run from 2k + depending on modules.

these are us prices only.

has plenty of information on them.
