Hello,

We recently upgraded from Exch5.5 to 2003 on a Windows 2003 server. Also recently upgraded from NT4 domain to AD2003.

I've got a user who is reporting a number of email messages showing up in his drafts folder. The user almost exclusively uses OWA. How do messages end up in the OWA drafts folder in general and are there any bugs that can cause them to get there also?

Thanks!

I saw this. It looks like the messages are actually going out, but a copy is stored in Drafts and Sent Items.

The Exchange box is running SP2 and I don't have any recipients/contacts with the naming convention "Lastname, Firstname [Department:City:Country]". All my users/contacts are "Firstname Lastname".

If the message was actually sent, then at some point the message was saved before sending. When you do this, the message is saved to "Drafts". You can configure the outlook client to save at periodic intervals. If this was done initially through the outlook client, you could see this behavior in OWA. This was true for Exchange 2000, and I believe is still true for 2003.

The solution would be to go back into the outlook client Tools - options -preferences - email options - advanced email options, and turn of the auto save.
