What causes an Administrator.000 login to appear on it's own?

When I logged on to my computer this morning all of my icons and files I had on my desktop were gone except for maybe three. I checked explorer and now there is an Administrator.000 folder that I am logged into. The old Administrator folder is still there with all my files.

I am on a Novell 5.0 network and have been logging in the same way. I can log in as a new user and delete the .000 folder, but I would like to prevent this from happening in the future.

If anyone has any tips I would appretiate it.

Thanks,
Chris

Have you joined a domain recently or has anyone been messing with the machine to try joining a domain?

If XP believes there is corruption in the original profile, it autocreates a new profile using the settings for the Default User Profile.

The original profile is still there, but should not be used. Rather copy the data from old to new and reboot. See:
As this is the "Administrator" profile, you may have to temporarily create a new Administrator user. Logon as the new user, copy the profile data required as above to the Administrator.000 account, log back on as your original user name, and remove the temporary user.

Thanks for the tip. I've copied everything over and it is working fine. As far as I know no one else has tried to log on to the machine so I think it must be a corruption problem.

Thanks again for the help....
