Hi all,

I am looking for other brand of network switches aside from Cisco and planning on evaluating the switches. Would anyone know what are the consideration in evaluating network switches?

Thank you.

It all depends in what context you want to use them, a simple desktop switch sitation or a full blown campus network?

Thing to consider are support for VLANs and Vlan routing, VTP, Backplane speeds, QOS and IP power capable? The list goes on, its easier to find out what are your requirements and look for a solution that matches.

gwildfire is correct.

Cisco
Extreme
Juniper

Foundry and Hewlitt Packard make good switches . HP has much better pricing than cisco and all their switches carry a lifetime warranty

I've worked with Foundry products before and they are very goo for the money.
