Weird sound issure with Trust Soundforce SP-3500X Speakers

Just bought these speakers for £25. Work quite well (although not as good as my £8 set!), however there are 2 minor problems with it:

1. The bass is really quiet. I turn the bass to full, and I can barely hear it. With my other set, having it over half is too much...

2. The left tweeter does not have sound coming out of it at all...until I get to about 50% overall volume...then it sounds fine. But 50% total volume is VERY loud, so it means I have to set my PC Volume really low...could the speakers be faulty? I know all the balance and volume settings on the PC are correct...

Any clues people?

Did you listen to the speakers before you bought them? They may have a flatter response thus less pronounced bass. Try changing the right & left speaker (if possible) to see if the problem follows the speaker. It sounds like a hardware issue, perhaps a poor connection, that once you give it some juice it arcs across the gap. I would exchange them for another set.

Hmmm...perhaps the cable is faulty, or the connectors...but there are quite a few of them, some of which can't be removed.

I bought them online for a friend so no did not hear them before purchase.

Couldn't see the £25 ones, but maybe this included P & P. However, you'd still expect a reasonable output, response and quality of goods for that money. If they compare unfavourably with your £8 speakers, I'd certainly complain to the supplier.

Might be worth checking them out on at least a couple of other machines if you haven't already done that...
