Hi Guys,

A couple of users on my network have reported an unusual problem to me. In both cases, the users have been working on files over a period of time, saving them as they go. But then when the later open the same file, it is blank.

Both users are using Office 97 accessing files that are on a Win 2003 server.

Anyone had a similar problem?

I seen one just like this many years ago. I call it the mysterious randomly vanishing data story, and I tell it all the time. My this case, the luser in question, had been saving multiple copies of the same file in about 8 different places. She would edit it in one place and save. Then open it up again somewhere else and the data that she previously saved would mysteriously vanish! Sometimes when A user double clicks on a file, and then does save as, they save it elsewhere and have no clue. Then they open the Orig, and they are suprised to see all of their edits gone. It's just something for you to check. I have never seen data actually stripped from a file any other way without some sort of drive corruption. If that where the case, it would probably be more evident. Good luck.
