I've just about given up on this problem.

OS: Windows ME

When using DHCP to resolve the DNS I can NOT ping any OUTSIDE address ( Unknown Host) but I can ping say SERVER.

If I Manually put in the DNS (192.168.0.100) same as DHCP resolves I CAN ping outside addresses (
Thats a hint somehow.

If I Load internet explorer and type in an address ( I get a DNS error under either setting. If I type in a direct IP ( I still get a DNS error. That is a resolved address of
Lan settings are correct in internet options in Internet Explorer.

I've tried restoring wsock32.dll which had a 2003 date.

There is no virus on this machine.

I've removed everything from startup there is no firewall.

Any other suggestions or does it seem I must reinstall, system restore, or overinstall.

What DNS address does DHCP give you?? Who manages your DHCP server??
