We've recently got a Win 2000 Server up and running for personal use at home. Everything is going fine, except that the websites are not accessible from our office. In addition, email bounces back from either direction saying the server can't be found. The DNS lookup seems ok as the friendly name resolves to the correct IP. The Ping stops at the second hop, just as it does for foxnews.com and cnn.com.

Apparently our server can't see our work server and our work server can't see our local server. Again I stress that people all over the country are viewing the websites and sending email to us. It seems like we might be hitting a corporate firewall or something. Is there some setting that is missing on our server that would authenticate to our corporate firewall?

Any suggestions appreciated,

The DNS Server's Primary DNS Server should point to itself and then withing DNS configure forwards to point to your External DNS Server.

The question is pretty vague and without more information it is going to be hard to help you out?

What is your internal domain name? example.com, example.local, etc...

Can you ping the Default Gateway?

Can you ping beyond the default gateway by IP?

Can you ping beyond the default gateway by Host Name?
