I am thinking of setting up a webshop on my RH 9 system, as an experiment. Could someone please give my advice on how to get started?

Apache webserver, Mysql as backend database and use https for user authentication....:)Simple idea....

Is there any Open Source Webshop I could easily incorporate into this? Do I need to use PHP?

You can use perl, php or java.
See RedHat webshop, lindows webshop etc....:)
They should use open source system.
I don't think they used MS$ product.
