Provided that you own foo.com and are not hosting other sites or sub-domains.

A record
foo.com = <public address of your web server>

A record
= <public address of your web server>

A record
mail.foo.com = <public address of your mail server>

MX record
mail.foo.com

RDNS record on your ISP's public DNS server
<public address of your mail server> = mail.foo.com

Hope This Helps,

Good Luck!

it is starting to make sense... I will be hosting multiple small sites...
