I have an internal server that hosts many web pages that is behind\published through ISA2000.

Now, all accesses to this web server seem as they all from ISA server's internal IP. But I want to see how many different computers connect to my web server from the internet. How can I solve this problem??

Getting the Client IP Address in the IIS Log Files
Q I'm using IIS 6.0 behind ISA Server 2000. In the IIS Logfile the c-ip (client ip) is always the IP address of the ISA server. This interferes with log file analysis as we don't have the original IP address of the clients in the IIS logs. How can we get the client's ip address in the IIS log files?

A One of the features of ISA server is its ability to act as a reverse proxy server. The client connects to ISA which in turn retrieves and caches content from the IIS server. Security is enhanced because the client never has a direct connection to the IIS server. As you have observed when ISA contacts the IIS server, the IIS server records the IP address of the ISA server in the IIS logs. So the price for this additional security is that you lose the ability to track the variety of clients contacting the IIS server, since they don't actually connect to the IIS server.

In your current configuration, there is no way to cause ISA to pass through the IP address. You can, however, analyze the ISA server logs for much of the same information. I would suggest you look at the Log Parser Tool from the IIS 6 Resource Kit and keep an eye out for Log Parser 2.2 that should be released Summer 2004.You can use the Log Parser Tool quickly format the ISA logs into the IISW3C log files or export them to a SQL server for analysis. If you upgrade ISA 2000 to ISA Server 2004, you'll be glad to know that you can enable pass through of the client's IP address as per
