Hi,
I have a webserver up and running, and I would like to connect a webcam to it. HW: Intel box, 2 USB ports. The webcam is not purchased yet. SW: RedHat 7.2, Apache.
Q: does RedHat 7.2 support USB, or do I have to upgrade to 8.0? Is it required to purchase an USB webcam, or is a parallel one also OK? When I buy a webcam, are Linux drivers normally shipped with it?
Thanks in advance.

Phillips USB webcams work well. I've used Gnomemeeting with 7.1 and up, MDK 8.0 and up.

Check the hardware compatability list before you buy.

There is also a program called camstream that can take pictures at intervals and upload them to an ftp site.
