I have a very silly problem.

We are using netscreen firewall with very simple settings. All of our users have access to our network trough VPN and they can access their mail trough web.
All desktops are running on DHCP, except 3 desktops which have static ip address. However, last Friday we opened 3 ports on our firewall, so they can access different network.
Since then, nobody was able to access their web mail. Users can login and see all folders, but when accessing individual mail message – an error message appears:
Error 500 – internal server error.
Does anybody have a clue what is going on??

What happens when you connect to the webmail server from inside? Can you access the messages ok then? Webmail only uses port 80 (port 443 if you are using ssl) so it seems unlikely that the change to the netscreen would have had any effect.

If the connection is being made to the web mail server then I would suggest that the problem lies with the mail server. You could also check to see if closing those ports you opened makes a difference?

well, if you try to access the webmail from inside - same problem....
i think you'right as i've opened first two ports 2 days before i've opened a third one. and at that poing, we haven't had any problems at all.
still.. can't figure out why the time out error?? we haven''t change anything at all since 12 last april...
