Hello,

I have been tasked with designing an Intranet for our company with Frontpage. Let me say this is not in my realm of expertise!
Anyway, I'm trying to have an Index page with links to subwebs(?) that are password protected by user groups.
The thing that is kicking my a** right now, is an announcement field preview. They want to have something on the homepage that all employees can use to make announcements and have a preview of them on the homepage, that the title links to the complete text.
The Frontpage help files pretty much suck, if you ask me, so I'm asking the experts.
Any other helpful hints or comments are gratiously accepted!

Thanks,

Matt Wray

That actually sounds pretty simple. Your announcements can be simple text links, something like:

Employment Updates
Read about the latest jobs ... <Link> More information

If you want to do something fancier like rolling script, you'll need a java applet to do that. You can find some at You might also check with your Web people and see if they have already purchased java applets that you can use.

A subweb is a separate Web site underneath a main Web site. For example, you have a corporate Web site. Underneath that, you have Web sites that are still part of the company but maintained by the different departments. You might also create a subweb to assign security permissions or to use different shared borders.
