Web based Terminal Services and drive access

Hi there!

Is there a way of getting the Web version of TS to 'see' a user's local drive(s) in a similar way that the normal TS operates?

We have sucessfully got the local printers to be seen, but we also need the user to have the ability to copy files from the server to their local PC.

If this can't be done via the Web TS, what is the best way of achieving something similar? (we can't use normal TS in this situation).

There's a WebTS version? Are you talking about the web interface to connect to TS? Because it's just that. It authenticates and kicks off a RDC session. There shouldn't be any differences in functionality or policy application while connecting with either method. Tell me if I'm wrong here...

Do you have the local drive redirection policy configured for the TS box?

Thanks for your response. I am not a teccie so I am not sure what is is we are using to be honest!

Looking around the web we have a similar setup to this URL:

http://www.southeastmn.edu/TSWeb/Default.htm

However, our teccie bunch have told me that drive mapping does not work in this setup. However, clicking on 'Connect' via the above URL you are immediately prompted with a dialogue asking if you want to connect local drives!!

Looks like I will have to dig deeper after the weekend and find out what is going on!

FatSlug, this setting is a "server side" policy. If this is explicitly disabled on the server, then the client will not be able to redirect local drives whatsoever.

There is also another setting on the server to force clients to redirect local resources (ie: drives). And, yet, another setting that basically gives the client a choice by specifying within the client RDC properties.

Local resource mapping will work in this scenario, as there is no difference in functionality as stated earlier. Sounds like your systems administration department needs to look further into this.
