Is there anyway to find a user on the network if you don't have their pc name, have their ip address, or know which particular server they are logged into? Basically I'm trying to identify a user by username. Is this possible through DOS or run command? We need to map to his local drive, and would like to do this inconspicuosly.

Thanks to all in advance.

If they are using DHCP, you should be able to see what IP address they leased by their user name.

Just ask the network administrator.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Just as network administrator? What does this mean? I am an admin. My reply to "gbaughma" was asking if he he was referring the the nbtstat command which will not work with only a username. And yes it is a DHCP client. Any other ideas?

Thanks

You should be able to go into your DHCP administrator, look at leases, and see who's logged on (I think... I'm not sitting at a server at the moment, so I can't verify that....)

DHCP admin shows machine name not user name.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

That's cool, I took NortonES2's advice. This prog kicks a$$ worked right off the bat.

Thanks everyone I appreciate the quick response and help

if you ever get stuck without any other utilities, you can run c:>net session from the domain controller and it will give you all the users, machine names and ip addresses...
