This message appears now that I open any office XP document (in windows xp). I open an office document and after some seconds the message saying "we are sorry for the inconvenience. XXXX needs to close...." appears, and gives me the option to close and tell microsoft about the problem or don't send the report. Even wordpad is not working and does the same thing as the word documents. What can I do?? Uninstalling and reintalling office XP didn't work. I even tried installing office 2000 and it was the same!!! Help!

Oh, well it was about a week ago when I last updated my antivirus (norton AV 2003).

If you're comfortable with screwing with your registry you could try this

1) Backup your registry, and put it somewhere safe
2) Create a restore point
3) Uninstall Office
4) Run regedit, and look for keys to do with office, and delete them
5) reinstall office.

If you're not comfortable with the registry, you could try a system retore froma time you knew it worked, and be wary of any installs that happened in the interim. Each time you install a new piece of software, chack that office behaves.

Did you get a look at the error report it was trying to send to mIcrosft, there could be a clue in there as to what DLL, or EXE is having, or causing the problem.

If none of the steps above work, you're looking at reinstalling XP

Do you ever run your antivirus to check your system out - Not being flippant here, but even though you update it and let it run in the background, it's always worth kicking it off manually to do a full check every now and then, especially if you use Kazaa, mIRC or anything like that.

Thanks, guys. But I have found the real problem to this. Apparently, when you preview something, you are also using the driver of the printer. So office can't preview a document if your printet driver is damaged. I installed another printer and the preview function works perfectly.

Well, first I uninstalled the printer driver. Then tried to preview and couldn't, I got a message saying there was no driver installed. Then I installed another printer and the preview function worked!
