Ok this posting is similar to thread528-1207127. Here is my hard drive specs...

MDL: WD800JB-00CRA1
Board number: 2060-001102-003 REV a
DATE: 21 JUN 2002
DCM: DSEANA2AH

I believed I fried her when I swapped out of my CDROM while running (I know). I have since bought another WD800JB but it is a newer SE version (WD800JB-OOJJCO). I swapped out the board on the new one and placed into the old. She doesn't work but at least I can hear the heads clicking with activity on boot up. It also recognizes the drive as a Western Digital "-Sabre-" but then "fails" and it does not bootable.

My old board doesn't allow the hard drive to power up at all. No spinning/vibration/clicking. Only with the new noncompatible board.

I am not experienced in data recovery but I am desperate/determined to figure this out. Does anyone have any suggestions? or compatible boards? You guys are my last hope.

Thanks,
Daniel
