Hi all, have a customer that vpn's into the network. Its just a basic network no domain. In order for him to get access to the windows 2008 server, he has to start, run \\server then enter his user and password. Is there a way i can make it so that he does not have to do this?

Thanks in advance.

What part are you trying to skip?

[ul]
[li]He could skip the run command by simply opening any windows explorer window & type \\server in the address bar.[/li]
[li]If you're trying to skip the request for username & password, he could change his remote username & password to be the same as whatever is used on the server.[/li]
[li]Even simpler would be to create a batch file (on the destkop or someplace convenient) that simply maps a drive letter after establishing the VPN
Code:
net use z: \\server\share /user:username /savecred
After running this once, remove the /savecred switch. If the client computer is a 'home' based operating system, the /savecred switch will not work and the user will either need to type the password each time, or include it in plain text in the batch file.[/li]
[/ul]

PS. This question is really only relavent to whatever the client operating system is and should be posted in that forum. The question is not really about the TCP/IP protocol.
