I have a customer that requires transcribing some calls. Right now they are manually typing the recorded call, but I was hoping someone knew of a way to import the .wav in a third party app that auto converts to text. I've searched Google but can't find anything that would actually do that. I've found many links, but no end-user apps.

Most audio/voice to text software produces almost complete garbage, it would need checking by a person everytime and so not only are they still doing it they are also out of pocket. The dictation software that is good needs training to one persons voice by reading pre defined sentences, not something that would work for you :)

I have a friend that is using Microsoft Lync and Outlook 2010 as voicemail and it transcribes his voicemail messages and sends it to him. It works remarkably well, but it only works when someone leaves a voicemail message; it does not import wav files for conversion. In addition, I expect that this will not be 100% automated, instead it will be a launching-off point for the personal assistant to complete the text conversion.

It's OK if all callers are North American and don't use slang, otherwise not so great usually :)
