I was just recently dropped into the network admin position at a public school, and they are running Windows NT 4 server at the moment, with a host of Win98 clients. I know MS is letting NT slide here soon, and I would obviously favor a new server with Windows 2003 running on it, and all the clients moved to Win2k or WinXP pro. Anyway, I'd like to know if there is a way to keep all my existing NT4 profiles/groups intact on Win2k3, but yet still have a clean install on a new server (no upgrading over the top of NT).

Is this process going to be a major headache? I've never done a server update before, so this is going to be one heck of an experience.

Hi

Will you be having new server hardware, if that is the case then install 2003 on the new box, upgrade the existing nt box to 2003, both of them as AD controllers and then remove the the upgraded machine.

Hope this helps

Dave
