I like to keep current copies of my important files/directories backed up on my memory sticks.

I've been using unison because I get my choice between a GUI and a command line and I like supporting open software. Unfortunately, it does not deal well with long or weird file names and it does not seem to invoke a diff utility like winmerge when both copies are out of date.

Can anyone recommend some free (as in free beer) software to synchronize my directories on my hard disk with my memory sticks that (1) gives me choice between GUI and command line and (2) invokes my choice of diff/merge utilities when when both are out of date (3) deals with long file names from eclipse and Microsoft front page?

Thanks!
Siegfried

Hi heintze, it's not GUI ased, but why not use robocopy to copy all of your files, it's pretty awesome and fairly straight forward once you work out what you want to do with it.

Take a look at SyncBack Freeware V3.2.26.0

Command line or GUI and backs and/ or synchronises across drives, folders, networks and USB devices.

Seems to me to be exactly what you are after. I suspect that the free version will do all you need.
