Hi,
I want to display the user who refreshed the report previously. Bo has the function to diaplay the Last Refresh Date, but i am not able to find any "Last Refresh By" function.
Can anyone help in this regard?

Thanks

Perhaps version 6 will offer it, otherwise it would be a nice enhancement request.

This might be a bit late, but i was reading thru and just saw this post.

i have 5.1 and there is a function that returns the current user. So you can create a new variable and just choose CurrentUser from the Misc Functions group. =CurrentUser() It requires no parameters.

Granted, it will change with the user upon opening the file, but if you are wanting it for a printed report and typically on print after having refreshed, it might be of some help to you.

if you are vb savvy, i'm betting you can come up with a way to use this function to save to a variable only upon refresh. i'm also very interested in being able to show this on my reports, so i'll play with it some and see what i can come up with. it should be fairly basic, i'll reply back with results if i'm "successfull"!

I may be mistaken, but the original request was to know who was the LAST one to refresh the document. Displaying the current user is then at least misleading.
THe current user() function just acts upon who ever logged in on reporter, regardless of the document open. It says something about the connection, not about the specific report/document...

Yes, i understand that the data the function returns will change with each user that logs on, as i mentioned in my previous reply.

What i'm hopeing to do is use this function along with the vb editor to capture the data into another "field" (or variable) that will hold it and display on the report and only change when the refresh event has been triggered. I already have a few rep's that have events triggered by the refresh event, such as printout or messages to the user, but i seem to be having trouble getting to the functions provided thru the variable editor such as =Current User().

If anyone knows what path to use to get to the functions (such as me.application.???), please let me know.

I am very much agreed that it should be something provided in the next release.

Okay, no idea if you can get that to work with VB, but I still do not fathom WHY you want something like that. The only way it will have any use is when every user exports the document to the repository after use and another one will retrieve it.
If you work with local copies of a document, saving the current user will only affect the copy you are working with.
Sounds only sensible if you have flexible workstations, but perhaps that is just what you have.............
