For some reason, when I open Windows Explorer, the default folder is "My Documents", but for all other users it is "My Computer".

How do I change this so my default folder is "My Computer"?

Cheers

How are you opening Windows Explorer?
If right-clicking My Computer and Explore, it will always take you to My Computer.
If right-clicking Start and Explore, it will always take you to the Start Menu folder in Windows.
If using the Explorer icon in Start, All Programs, Accessories and the Windows Explorer icon, it can be changed by editing the Target: line.
Put this in the Properties, Target: box on a Windows Explorer shortcut:
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e, ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

I'd copy the one from Start, All Programs, Accessories by right-clicking and drag it to the desktop for experimenting.

Great. Thanks a lot.

What does /e, ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} mean, if you don't mind me asking?

Jeff

The /e switch tells Windows Explorer to open in the two pane explorer mode.

If you omit the /e switch, Windows Explorer opens in a single pane view.

Not sure about
"::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}" I think it is a location on your computer represented by "::" and the number in brackets is a CLSID which helps windows to identify it.

linney, thanks for responding about clsid, I didn't get back here until Sun at 11:00am MST.
