I have tried 3 times to load Microsoft Outlook 2000 on to my new lap top. each time when trying to send e mails it informs me that wab.dll is missing. I have used the same disc over the years on different pcs. I am usiing Vista Home Basic on the new lap top (winows XP on my old lap top)

Wab.dll is the Windows address book (unrelated to office). Since Vista's built-in contact have changed, I don't believe the old wab.dll is used as it was with previous versions. Can you use Outlook's normal Contacts instead of the Windows Address Book?

I don't think Outlook 2000 will work properly on Windows Vista - in particular it needs the Windows Address Book which, as you've found, isn't there. You may be able to hack it by copying the one from your old laptop but I suspect you may have other problems. It's time to upgrade :)

Enjoy,
Tony
