W3C validator error

can someone explain why i'm getting the following error when trying to validate X/HTML Transitional

500 Too many header lines (limit is 128)

The page displays fine in a browser, what does this error mean?

it's ok I worked it out, you can't have more than 128 comments in your code.

Any idea why?

That's a new one on me. Sounds like it may be a limitation of the validator, rather than a requirement of the standard.
