w3c and cfform

cf's cfform is generating a xhtml form tag that has an added attribute so that my site doesn't validate. It's really quite a pain, and I was wondering if there was a way around it adding extra attributes that violate the standards, or do I have to re-write the forms as forms and give up the cf's Javascript validation of field inputs.
