I am currently running BAB Release 11.0 (Build 2674) with HP DAT40x6 autoloader - both have the latest patches/firmware. I have just recently added more server drives to a full backup job scheduled to run weekly onto tape and now appears to be running out of tape space. Backup Media Global Options:
Options for First Backup Media: Overwrite Same media name, or Blank Media.
Options for Additional Backup Media: Overwrite Same media name, or Blank Media First, then Any Media.
Total used drive space to be backed up 177GB. All six tape slots being used for a total tape space of 240GB. Software compression is enabled, encryption disabled. I am not currently using any kind of media pool, just straight scheduled jobs. As I review the logs I realize ARCserve is only backing up 16gb of data on each tape, then producing: W3831 Unable to find any media that can be used in this job, and asking for another blank media. I have read that the listed space "40GB" is only in theory, but I can't believe that I can only get 16GB on a "40GB" tape (with software compression). If this is true, is there any way to tweak this job's settings to get more data backed up per tape?
