I have a network setup with tcp/ip and win2k serv. I have 5 boxes on it 1-95 2-98 an ME and W2k Pro. I have setup the roaming profiles on all the boxes and they work fine except the 2k box. Is there something I'm over looking. the user already had a local profile. When the profile seems to be downloading it stops and says " can't create a file that already exists. I have never seen this before and it's making me angry. Does anyone have any Idea what the problem could be.

Also when I tried to connect to a share the box tells me that there is no logon server to validate my request. I looked at the servers event view and it says Net logon could do somehting, because of a dns issue. I don't have dns running. I'm using static ip's.

All the boxes seem to be loging on real slow. That could have something to do with the Net logon. I can log on without a problem tho, and I can see all the boxes in the browser?
My brain is on overload i'm just fed up at this
point. anyone have any info that my help me? Please?

thanks

If you're running Active Directory with no DNS server, that's your problem. Install DNS on your DC, and point at least your 2k client towards it. Marc Creviere

Yea I am running AD on it. Do I have to configure DNS or can I just start the DNS service and point my w2k box to the servers ip?

Thanks for the info I'll try that.

You will have to configure DNS to host a forward lookup zone for your domain, and if you're going to use it for internet lookups, you'll want to remove the "." forward lookup zone to tell it it's not a root server. If you're currently using the DNS server of an ISP, you can have that still do internet lookups in the forwarders tab of the properties of the DNS server, once it's installed. Marc Creviere
