I have a W2K VPN with two NICs. Primary NIC is connected to the Cayman 3546 Switch that lets me go out to the internet. The other NIC is used to communicate with another machine using a software that gathers information that's installed in the VPN machine. Cayman is also set to DHCP (just in case someone wants plug and play).
I am capable of connecting to the VPN server internally, but cannot get people in from the outside (I get Error 678 - Pretty Generic). I've been looking at posts here and other places and found a lot of 47 and 1723 issues. I've opened up "pinholes", turned off NAT, and basically have my switch wide open. My sever IP is public and still can't get myself in from the outside. Firewall on the Cayman 3546 is off and don't know what else to do.
I had Netopia on the phone and they did a "port scan" towards my direction and said that somewhere along the line that port 1723 was not open. With NAT being turned off, it wouldn't matter. Could it be possible that SBCYahoo have that port turned off on their end (I called them about that issue and Tier 1 wouldn't let me through to Tier 2 or anyone else)?
Since I'm able to connect internally with a laptop, I don't think it's my server setup (or could it?) that's causing the problem, yes? Could it be my ISP or Cayman 3546?
Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated!
