Compaq ML370 with two 18GB drives and four 36GB drives. Used Compaq SmartStart that came with server to setup drive arrays (SmartStart sees the drives fine). Now when I try to install W2K server get message saying that Setup could not find any hard drives attached to my computer. F3 to exit setup.

Why? This server already had W2K server install from the same CD and SmartStart CD. Also tried using NT4 Server CD and get same message.

Used SmartStart to wipe everything on server and redid array without problems but Windows Server setup does not see any drives. I also upgraded all Server firmware to try and fix with no success.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You should find what you need here:

you'll need to create a floppy with said drivers for your storage controller and when prompted by win2000 for storage or raid controller drivers, press F8

Correction on Karmic's post. You need to press F6.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

I got the drivers but when I press F6 and put in my diskette it says no txtsetup.oem file can be found. How do I get or create this file for my diskette?

Thanks for your help...

My bad, still on my first cuppa joe. F6 it is...

Are you sure you have the right drivers? should be the storage controller driver? I downloaded 2 different ones and the TXTSETUP.OEM was there...

The drives are labelled with Ultra3 SCSI but that driver (HP ProLiant 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI) has no txtsetup.oem file so I took the 32-bit SCSI but when I used it I still got the "no hard drives attached" error still.

I'm at a lost now? Why would the SmartStart CD that came with the server take-care of this? Any other suggestions?

Thanks Again,

Patrick

Try the 32-bit driver, it has the file you need...
