W2K server licensing

I have a client who purchased a server, W2K Server O/S with 10 licenses. He has 12 clients logging into the server with no problems. Also, he has two clients with the same user name logged in at the same time. The two clients the PC is named different. Is this all right or have I done something wrong?

This depends on how many licenses are setup in Licensing. You have to setup the number of users (clients). If the number of users exceeds the number set in licensing, you may begin to see some users disconnected from mapped drives, new logons typically bump others - requiring a reboot/relogon to remap the network drive. This may or may not seem to be affecting people that are really only using shared Internet access, depending on how that is setup.

If you mean legally, then you must have a single license(CAL) for each computer that is used to access the 2000 server. A+, MCP, CCNA

Thanks all who replied. I have read the book and found out what I did wrong. Need to install more licenses, which have been purchased.
One final question, with only 5 licenses installed, would the cause client hangs and crashes?

no crash or hangs, just after 5 connections to the server at the same time , no-one else will be able to connect to it.
