We have an HP LC2000 U3 with the following SCSI components:
HP Netraid 1M w/3 HDD
SymbiosSDMS w/Jazz drive
Adaptec AHA 2930C w/HP Surestore Dat24x6
The following error is all over the System event log:
Event Type: Error

Event Source:
Event Category: None

Event ID: 9
Date: 09/29/2005
Time: 7:17:36 AM
User: N/A
Computer: GALCE1
Description:
The device, \Device\Scsi\mraid2k1, did not respond within the timeout period.
Data:
0000: 00 00 10 00 01 00 68 00 ......h.
0008: 00 00 00 00 09 00 04 c0 .......À

0030: 00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 ........

Booting the server allows us access to it, but it becomes inaccessible after a while. This is usually after trying to "do something" on the server.
I am assuming this is a problem with the HP Net Raid controller, but just positive.
What tools are available to diagnose and trouble shoot this?

For my HP smart controller RAID cards, I have diagnostic cd that came with them. I'd try to find something similar with yours. Everytime I've had to call hp to replace an adapter or an HD, they've asked me details about it.

Sure wish we could edit our posts, but perhaps some presubmission editing would be best, but here goes.

This is running W2K SP3 and we are not positive what SCSI card or device could be causing the problem.

I installed HP's netraid app, but this does not show anyhting out of the ordinary. The only indications we et are from the event log nad the unresponsiveness.

Well, the last time I had this error message, it was caused by a hd getting ready to crash.

If you haven't already, i'd backup your data. Just telling you because you wouldn't believe the amount of people who do not back up.

I'd go ahead and run a chkdsk and see what that tells you.
