I have W2K server with system drives mirrored. (two IDE physical disk 0 and 1. both have one partition). Software mirrored.

I created boot floppy disk with boot.ini file below and it works :
[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect

But when I changed as below to start from mirrored disk, it does not start and gave error message :
[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect

I think the shadowed mirror disk have no MBR. Microsoft site doesn't gave straight clear answer also.

Can someone help me please ?
thanks

If memory serves me correctly:

multi(0) is IDE
disk(0) is the first IDE controller
rdisk(1) is the slave disk on the first controller
partition(1) is the first partition on that disk

try

[boot loader]
timout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect

Thanks Seaspray0. Its working. What a confusing stuff microsoft naming can be !
disk = controller
rdisk = physical disk number

Thanky a lot
