I've installed Norton antivirus pro 2003 and personal firewall 2002, and soon after I've updated both, after the fresh install,
but now I'm experiencing these problems: When I'm downloading some programs or stuff, or sometime when I'm just browsing,
I start getting a popup from Norton asking me to allow or not some access from someone (not described in detail) just the port#, I know what Norton is asking and what those popups requests means,
but after doing the proper confirmation and checking the box always use this etc it keep on popping up the same popup 2 or 3 times and "often times"
I get this error massage: SVChost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows you will need to restart the program.
If at the time of the message I'm downloading,
the download continue without a problem,
but after the download is completed and I want to browse somewhere else! I can't access other sites or links,
and if I want to terminate the connection " logging off" the web by right clicking the connection icon and then clicking the disconnect,
or when I try to disable the Norton Firewall on the sys tray icon,
right click and disable, then I get this message : The Current Norton firewall account Must be a Supervisor to perform this operation. From then on I'm locked out from using\opening most of the desktop stuff the and the recycler bin included,
the only way to get back to normal operation again,
is to do a restart then everything is back to normal and without any "apparent" problems.
By the way on this Rig I'm set up as a supervisor for w2k pro and I also have updated my IE to v6 and installed sp1 and sp3 so far.. I need some serious help here thx

On this post I've stated that, on this Rig I'm set up as a supervisor for w2k what I meant to say is Administrator...

Try uninstalling norton firewall and see what happens. I'm not sure that Personal Firewall 2002 and Antivirus 2003 will work together. It should be Personal Firewall 2003 and Norton Antivirus 2003. The two programs may be working against each other instead of with each other 'as a team'.

I've uninstalled norton PFW and nav and the problem is still there so it must be elsewhere and just for your info the two programs will work together perfectly that's what symatec suggest doing

Uninstall antivirus and firewall. Afterwards go to the registry and remove all symantec entries. This is the only way to get rid of any norton products in Win200 or XP. Many users have major problems with the latest norton editions. Regards and good luck

thx for the suggestions the problem start just after a update I've done all the above and still I get the same problem, is it possible that this is not related to Norton after all
