Hi Guys,
I have a client who has just had a rollout of a new Compaq Server, Windows 2000 SBS Server and some workstations re-built. They have 5 client computers connecting locally on a small network cabled with category 5 and running a small 3 com 12 port 10/100 hub.
Problem is their desktop computers are running quite slowly. Opening a docuemnt in Excel or Word and their systems seems to slow down to a halt for 30 seconds or so before coming back to life.
Printing can take up to a minute to start on a small Word document of a couple of pages. All their printers are local! There are no network printers in this office.
There are 2 Windows XP Pro computer, and 3 Windows 98 computers. One of the Windows XP machines is sitting on Loading Personal Settings for a few minutes on bootup.
Can someone please provide me with a bit of an action plan of what you would do in this situation. Its really frustrating for the users. I didnt do the installation and im cleaning up someones mistakes!
