Our company currently has a problem:
We have a large number of duplicate DNS records that are pointing to single IP addresses. This is causing name resolution issues.
I have also found that these duplicate records do not have any timestamps associated with the records.
Will DNS scavenging help us? I am afraid that if I turn on scavenging, it will go out and delete the manually added addresses for our servers, printers, etc.
Can anyone answer the following two questions for me:
1) Why do some records have timestamps and others do not? Is this due to the client registering with DNS and not the DHCP server?
2) If I turn on scavenging, are there any chances that my manually added records will be lost?
Thanks,
Warren Blundell
