W2k and XP systems no longer getting webpages

I have a Windows 2000 laptop and a XP Home Edition desktop that mysteriously stop loading webpages. Both are connected to the network and can connect to other computers on the network. Both can also ping computers on the internet. I tried to ping yahoo.com and it came back with 4 good replies. However, any website that I try to bring up I get page cannot be loaded. Any ideas?

First step, repair the Winsock service on the affected machines:
