Hi

I have a VWIC-1MFT-G703 in an 1841. It is configured as an unframed E1 serial interface.

I am having some issues with the carrier when bringing the line up. My end is bouncing and occasionally showing as looped, when we have not set a loop on the line.

My config is:

controller E1 0/0/0
clock source internal
channel-group 0 unframed

interface Serial0/0/0:0
bandwidth 2048
ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.252
encapsulation ppp
no fair-queue

My controller is set to:

clock source line
channel-group 0 unframed

....I am sure I must need something else here.....

But is this all I need? I have not set up one of these before and could use any advice/guidance (apart from change careers)

Thanks as always in advance.

Couple of changes I might suggest:

1. Check the clock source from your E1 provider. With most 2mb E1's the clock source is provided and thus the clock source should be set to line.

2. Under the controller config, have you tried removing the 'channel-group 0 unframed' command? I thought this was only required for a 2-port card.

3. Verify your linecode and framing with the provider. You haven't specified this so I think you'll default to HDB3 and CRC4. You can use the 'show controller e1 0/0/0' command to verify the current settings.

4. Do you have the option in controller config to set the line-terminatin parameter? If so set this to 75 ohm for unbalanced BNC or 120 ohm for a balanced connection.

Thanks oce again kiskokid, i'll give those a go and let you know.
