VSE7 - General Policies - Optimal Settings?

I'm wondering what are the best EPO policy settings for VirusScan 7 clients for General Policies >> General (tab) >>> Scan , General and Scan Time. My goal is absolute MINIMAL impact on the clients. By the way, every client is scanned nightly on schedule.

Scan - Boot Sector, Floppy at Shutdown - Why should I choose either one of these?

General - Enable on-access scanning at (1) startup or (2) when policies are enforced? Which is recommended? I'd prefer at startup.

Scan Time - Max scan archive time - What? Why do I care?
Max scan time for all files - What? Why?

While I like VSE7 alot, there are just alot of settings that I don't understand and/or are not documented well enough. I am a bit confused...
