VSE CICS Open Spool Resume

We have an application that directs lines to the spool and currently Open the Spool, write lines to the spool and then Close with Release which sends the print the output queue.

THis works but limits the job to 1 document. We would like to Open, write the 1st document, CLose Resume and then be able to OPEN RESUME on subsequent writes to the spoool. We can sucessfully Open, write and CLose Resume, but faile on the next OPEN SPOOL RESUME.

Does anyone have a working model that we can use? Any information regarding this subject would be appreciated.

I was just browsing around these tech pages and decided to look at a VSE & CICS question. I have not used VSE for over 10 years and 25 years since I taught VSE or CICS. I was the CICS product manager then, so here goes. I don’t have any manuals but remember some of the functions, I get VSE, MVS, OS/400, Unix & Windows all mixed up at the coding level.

Try assigning more than one printer, example “00E” & “01E”, etc for spool to separately catch and direct them to the spool queue. You may have to get the systems programmer involved because of the extra print devices. When you start the spool writer direct it to select all the print jobs. Again it has been a long time and maybe I am all wet but nothing tried nothing gained..
