I've done a few searches and can't see where this may have been discussed.

Can someone tell me the difference between Visual Studio.net 2003 and Visual Studio 2005. I saw someth that says Visual Studio 2005 can create .net applications, but I can't find it anymore. Is VS 2005 the next step from VS .net 2003? Will my .net classes work in 2005?

Thank you in advance.

Well basically it's .Net 2.0 (vs 2005) vs .Net 1.1 (vs 2003).

I just made the jump from 2k2 to 2k5. The IDE's are very similar, 2k5 has a LOT of nice features built in. Lots of things that you had to use addons in 2k2 are fully integrated in 2k5.

As for the jump from 1.1 to 2.0... I haven't had any problems yet. Threading is more secured, but so long as you were safe in your thread calls your code will port with out a problem. Other than that, I haven't run into any problems. YMMV.

Thank you for your replies. It helps a great deal to know that 2005 is not a different architecture (ie. .net vs NOT .net) and that it should carry my 2003 stuff.
