wondering if there's any real way of speeding up the pix site to site vpn tunnels. There's a pix 501 on each end tied to a 1.5 meg internet line carrying static ip's.

One side has 2 gateways, one pix and another firewall. The other site has a pix only for internet and tunnel.

I find the vpn's are always so slow even though the internet speeds are fine. Simply transferring a 1 meg file takes quite a while.

I've been reading up on mtu's but changing mtu's on the pix units affects internet traffic across the pix, some sites just won't come up.

What else do I do?

Thanks. Robert

I'm in the same situation. Do you have a T1 on both ends ? In my case, I have T1 on my end and ADSL on the other. I used both 501 on each end and 506e on each end (with different customers) and same result...

The processor in the PIX 501's aren't very big. They're rated up to 3Mbps for 3DES encryption, but even then what is the real world throughput? I'm betting that is your answer.. It could be the headend PIX is overloaded as well..
