I have installed a VPN server on my linux PC (PPTPD).
All works OK and my WindowsXP clients can connect to the corporate network.

What's the problem ?
I have a client that needs to access to the VPN throught a GPRS connection. But some ISP blocks defaults VPN's ports.
Is there a VPN solution for my "SuSE Linux PC" that works with "normals" ports ?

Thanks in advance. Clarissa

Clarissa,

What ports do you think are blocked? Also, where is the block occuring, on the GSM network? I'm pretty sure you can setup PPTPD to listen on different ports given that you have to define the ports after the install. What's the VPN client on the wireless unit?

Hallo,

I kow that on my firewall I need to open port 1723 and protocol 47. Probably port and protocol are both blocked.
On my client I use the "standard" VPN connection of WindowsXP.

Thanks Clarissa

clarissa,

You say that "All works OK and my WindowsXP clients can connect to the corporate network", are they going through the firewall you mention here "I kow that on my firewall I need to open port 1723 and protocol 47."? I'll assume that if they are, they're also using the "standard" VPN connection of Windows XP as well, so I think you can rule that item out.

I'm pretty sure you could change Win95X VPN dial-up's to use GRE over UDP, but I don't think that's possible for XP or 2000, so I'm not sure I can answer that.

It would be nice if you could run a protocol analyzer on the client machine (like Ethereal) and post back the decode log.

If I think of anything else I'll post back.
