We have a server machine running windows 2000 server. Two network cards.

I am a novice at advanced networking, but we had basic a LAN setup through a USB wireless 8054 router. Simple, no problem.

Now I want to adjust this simple LAN setting to allow a VPN to access the network/domain from remote, outside the office.

The server has two network cards. Previously I kept the internet connection into the wireless router and then into one network card.

Because I want a VPN enabled, I switched the static DSL internet connection into one of the network cards (static ip 216.x.x.x), and I attached the the wireless router based LAN into the other network card.

I can connect to the internet from the server, and ping all the network computers. Of course the internet connection no longer works for the other domain stations.

So I start up routing and remote access services. It seems pretty easy to setup but... I lose all connectivity to the internet on the server machine, but can still ping the LAN computers and router.

What can I do if I wish to have the LAN computers through the router connect to the internet, and still have the server configured for remote access?

Is my difficulty because I need to configure the USR 8054 wireless router another way (perhaps the correct way?)... can I have the LAN still connect through the router or does every machine now have to connect through the VPN to the domain????

I am a novice but am learning quickly, and any help to get me through this would be greatly appreciated.

you should. It could be the NAT issue or you need to configure NAT on win 2000 server.
