Im about to setup my first vpn, i have 2 sites with adsl, both static ip adds,a netgear dg834 adsl router and was thinking of buying a Netgear FVS318 VPN router for site 1. Will i be ok using the netgear 834 which has vpn pass thru at site 2? Or will i need the same vpn router at both sides to make a secure tunnel?

For site-to-site you are better off having the router performing the VPN, rather than pass-thru to your client(s) beacuse most cheaper pass-thru routers (not sure about that netgear) will only allow one VPN connection per time. Also, have the router do the work means less trouble on the desktops. If your budget can handle it get two FVS318...
