Here is what I have;

1 Cisco 2621 Router configured with NAT inside to forward ports for email and web.

I just purchased 2 Linksys BEFVP41 devices to connect my remote site to my main office.

I was planning on placing one Linksys behind the Cisco Router and forwarding 1702 and 1723 ports to the VPN device. Will this work?

I was just talking to a coworker and he was telling me that companies are playing big $$$ for a VPN line? Am I missing something, why can I buy 2 Linksys VPN routers for $250.00 and get the same result?

Any thoughts would be great....

Thanks

First, I would check with Cisco about your 2621. Many of them support IPSec VPN. You may need to only buy one endpoint. You may check into the RV082 from Linksys. I have 4 of them connected to our PIX 515 and they work great. (Getting a little closer to a real router[smile])

If it does not, your solution looks like it would work. You are forwarding the wrong ports though. Those are for PPTP VPN, and the BEFVP41 uses IPSec. I think you only need to forward port 500, but check on the ports.

Companies are paying for VPN. But this is MANAGED VPN. You would have Bell or whoever come in, set it up on their *secure* network, use their routers etc, and they would monitor and maintain it. All at a cost that is still cheaper than Point-to-point or Frame...

HTH!

Thanks for the information.

I would go with a PIX for the HQ office but our budget only allows for something similar to a Linksys price.

I really like the RV082 you mentioned. I'll look into it.

Thanks
