Hi All,

I require your help and advice on the best method of setting up my VPN connection as my current setup half works.

The requirement: 1) Setup VPN for external use (client XP Pro & XP Home) 2) XP Home setup for internal(in the office use) via VPN as well.

The setup:
1) Static ip 83.XX.XX.XX to Wireless Router/firewall/switch to Small Business Server Premium.
2) 4 Desktops(XP Pro) connect to server via the above router(NAT enabled/DHCP on).
3) XP home laptop needs access in the office/home(VPN to be setup as XP Home does not work on a domaine.

I am going to re-install RRAS. As this server will be the only server running on this network, what recommendation do you have or advice to follow with regards to this setup. My current documentation details setup without taking into account the Router NAT/DHCP facilities.

that should work. The problem most people have is browsing. Post back with any problems.

Hi,

Just a few questions with regards to this setup:

Am I correct in assuming that I should disable the DHCP(as the router will do this) and WINS(causes conflicts if on same server) on the server, but enable DNS with it pointing to the router.

As to VPN setup should the static IP given to the VPN client be on the same subnet 192.168.XXX.XXX 255.255.255.XXX as the router DHCP giving to the LAN?

Again, thanks for your help.
